Best AI SEO agencies in 2026 (and what they actually do)

In short

The best AI SEO agency depends on what you need. That can be faster classic SEO with AI tools, getting named in AI answers, tracking only, or all of it in one package. The agencies other publishers name most often are iPullRank, Omniscient Digital, Siege Media, NoGood and WebFX. scaile pays off especially when you want the whole package, SEO and AI search on your website, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube, or when you only want to track AI answers.

Dora is a founding engineer at scaile. She studied computer science, psychology and neuroscience at TUM, which is the perfect fit for GEO: she has a deep understanding of technology and of the human side, and knows how to write and produce content that leads humans to buy and AI to show you in its answers.

Key takeaways

  • Start from your needs, not from a ranking: most lists are written by agencies that put themselves first.

  • The agencies that recur on other publishers' lists all sell optimization for AI search; they differ most in how they measure it.

  • "AI SEO" sells two different services: SEO work done faster with AI tools, and work that gets your company named and cited in AI answers.

  • Judge an agency by what it changes on your site each month and how it measures AI answers, not by the list it tops.

  • scaile does both jobs in one package: topics, keywords, briefs and content, optimized for each AI model you choose and published across your blog, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube.

What does an AI SEO agency actually do?

An AI SEO agency does one of two jobs, and the label does not tell you which. Some agencies use AI to do classic SEO faster: research, briefs, content, audits. Others optimize your company for AI search, so that ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews name and cite it when buyers ask. Many sell both under the same name.

Their own pages show the split. LinkGraph says its internal AI systems “automate execution, monitoring, and analysis across search engines and generative platforms”. It describes its AI SEO as traditional SEO, answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) combined. [1] Level Agency starts its AI SEO with an AI visibility and entity audit across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, then reworks existing content. [2]

AI-assisted SEO

AI tools make the agency faster at research, writing and audits. The goal is still a higher position in Google’s list of links.

Optimization for AI search

The agency works on whether AI answers name and cite your company for the questions your buyers ask.

The first is legitimate when the output is good. Google states that appropriate use of AI or automation is not against its guidelines, and that generating content with the primary purpose of manipulating rankings violates its spam policies. [3] What it does not do on its own is put your company into AI answers. Ask in the first call which of the two you are buying, and what share of the retainer goes to each.

When is scaile worth it?

These are the two most common reasons to work with scaile.

01You want the whole package

scaile finds the topics and keywords, writes and refreshes the content, optimizes it for each AI model you choose and publishes it on your blog, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube. Your team approves; it does not have to coordinate an SEO agency, a GEO agency and a social agency.

02You only want tracking

You want to see how AI answers name your brand and your competitors, without buying the execution. Tracking tools sell fixed prompt quotas. On Peec AI’s pricing page on 2 November 2026, the Starter plan costs $95 a month for 50 prompts and the Pro plan $245 for 150, each on three active AI models. scaile tracks more prompts, planned for your products, markets and languages, across up to nine answer engines.

Which AI SEO agencies do other lists name most often?

Most “best AI SEO agencies” lists are written by agencies that sell the work themselves. Of the 16 lists a web search returned on 2 November 2026, 12 rank their own publisher first. More useful is who they name besides themselves. The AI SEO agencies other publishers name most often are iPullRank (on 9 of the 16 lists), Omniscient Digital (8), Siege Media (6), NoGood (6) and WebFX (5). None of them published one of the 16 lists. Each agency’s own service page says what it sells:

AgencyWhat its own page says it deliversHow it measures AI searchPublished price
iPullRankGEO in three stages: assess where you stand in search and AI visibility, prioritize, then put the work into motion across content, technical work and measurementTies citations and AI referral traffic to engagement, leads and revenue “from day one” [4]None
Omniscient DigitalAI visibility for B2B software brands: content, brand mentions, third-party validation, technical foundationsConnects visibility to buyer behaviour through web analytics, self-reported attribution, CRM data and customer researchFull-service from $120,000 a year [5]
Siege MediaProprietary research, digital PR and bottom-funnel content for the surfaces AI answers citeLLM share of voice on your category prompts, tracked monthly, plus citations earned on the content it touches [6]None
WebFXAI query research, content assets and its own AI visibility tracking software [7]Its own tracking softwareGEO from $3,000 a month

NoGood, also on six lists, is a growth marketing agency that lists AEO among its services: “research-backed optimization strategies that boost brand visibility in AI search”. [8] It publishes no price on that page; ask it for the same three columns.

Two things stand out. All four sell optimization for AI search, not only AI-assisted SEO, so the most-named agencies are GEO agencies under another label. And their measurement differs more than their services: one counts share of voice, one ties citations to revenue, one runs its own tracking software.

iPullRank states the limit of the whole field plainly: “No one has fully figured out GEO yet.” [4] Treat any agency that sounds more certain with care.

How do you check an AI SEO agency’s results?

You check an AI SEO agency’s results with four questions about every number it shows you. Whose site? From what starting point? Measured with which tool? On which questions?

Whose site

Thrive’s AI SEO page reports that Thrive “grew its total traffic from all AI platforms by a staggering +5,556%” in 2025. [9] That is the agency’s own website, not a client’s.

Starting point

The same page reports a client result of “a 381 increase in mentions in AI Overviews”. Without the number it started from, you cannot tell a small gain from a large one.

Which tool

A share of voice from the agency’s own software is a reasonable start, but ask to see the prompts and the raw answers behind it.

Which questions

Visibility on general questions brings impressions. Visibility on the questions buyers ask right before they choose a provider brings customers. Ask which prompts the result covers.

A good answer to all four fits on one page, and scaile’s own case studies follow the same rule:

3×

BILD Reisen’s mentions in AI answers tripled, as the BILD Reisen case study shows.

One more filter costs nothing. Google says there are no additional requirements or special optimizations to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. [10] An agency selling a special markup for AI Overviews is selling something Google says is not needed.

Is an AI SEO agency the same as a GEO or AEO agency?

An AI SEO agency is usually the same as a GEO or AEO agency, sold under a different search term. GEO and AEO name the job of being named and cited in AI answers. “AI SEO” names it the way many buyers search for it, and also covers SEO done with AI tools. The buying decision is the same one, so you do not need to read four sets of lists.

These pages cover the rest of that decision:

Your team may have the expertise but not the hours to turn it into pages AI answers cite. Then the decision is less about which agency tops a list and more about who does the work every month, and on which channels. With Strategy with you, a scaile strategist plans it with your team and scaile executes it on your site. For a small business without a marketing team, scaile can run the whole job. Talk to a scaile strategist about which AI SEO work your team should keep and which to hand over.

FAQ

Is there a good AI SEO agency near me?

Location matters less than for most services. The work happens in AI answers and on your own website. Judge a nearby agency on the same questions as a remote one: what it changes each month and how it measures AI answers.

How much does an AI SEO agency cost?

Published prices on the agencies’ own pages range from $3,000 a month at WebFX to $120,000 a year for full-service work at Omniscient Digital, and three of the five agencies named here publish no price. Retainers, tools and in-house options are compared in the cost guide linked above.

Can my current SEO agency handle AI search?

It can if it already measures AI answers and changes content for them. Ask it for a baseline of the buyer questions you want to win in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. An agency that cannot produce one is still doing AI-assisted SEO.

Do AI SEO agencies guarantee citations in ChatGPT?

No honest one does. AI answers are rebuilt for every question, so there is no fixed position to promise. Treat a guarantee as a reason to walk away.
